Hurlburt Field Spouses’ Club is excited to announce that we are seeking a dedicated volunteer to lead our annual Scholarship Program—one of the most meaningful contributions we make to our military community! Are you the one we are missing on our board? We need you today!

As Scholarship Chair, you will:
• Oversee the HFSC Scholarship Program
• Coordinate applications and the review committee
• Communicate with students, families, and local partners
• Help award scholarships to deserving dependents and spouses
• Make a lasting impact on our community!

2025 was a busy year for the HSC. We have accomplished a lot, but didn't do it alone. We have had support from many volunteers and community organizations throughout the year. One of the hardest working teams on Hurlburt Field is our thrift shop team. We have several volunteers who dedicate their time every week to assist our staff in ensuring donations are sorted and organized, the store is tidy, and customers are assisted in purchasing their next treasure. The base's military organizations, such as the Hurlburt Field Chiefs Group, Hurlburt Field First Sergeant Council, Hurlburt 5/6, Hurlburt Airman's Voice, the Air Force Sergeants Association, and others, have partnered with us throughout the year to support airmen and military families. Our amazing volunteers, especially our board members, have worked to create a supportive environment for military spouses through programs and events that allow fellowship and fun! We wrapped up the year with our annual Commando Cookie Drive. We'd like to say a special thanks to the American Heritage Girls Troop 0077 from Crestview for collecting candy and baking cookies! We would also like to thank the USO Northwest Florida for turning its cookie drive into a huge asset for our Commando Cookie Drive by collecting, packaging, and delivering a tub full of cookies. Not only did we have these community organizations supporting our efforts, but we also had military units that stepped up and brought in tons of cookies and candy. And finally, you, our amazing military community, have continued to support us by donating to and shopping at the thrift shop, donating items for our community when we solicit for support, and by simply following and interacting with our website and social media platforms to encourage us to continue to give back to our community. Thank you all for your continued support!

Thank you all for your support for the 2025 Commando Cookie Drive! We had over 6000 cookies, more than 5000 pieces of candy, and a little over 600 candy canes, which all combined allowed us to pack more than 600 treat bags for our dorm residents. This wasn't quite as much as our goal, but it was plenty to create a nice little bag of sweet treats to help us brighten the day for these young airmen. Thank you to everyone who baked, donated, volunteered, or supported in any way! See you again in 2026!

We are 40% to our goal of 900 dozen cookies for the Commando Cookie Drive. We are hopeful that we will reach the goal with drop-offs on Sunday night and Monday morning. If you haven't had an opportunity to sign up yet. You still have time to sign up and donate cookies (homemade or bakery cookies), candy, and candy canes. We can also use your help collecting and packaging these treats! Sign up now and join us Sunday night or Monday as we collect donations and put the treat bags together for our young airmen who live in the dorms.

Units, would you like the opportunity to earn a donation for your holiday party? Be the unit that contributes the most cookies and candy, and the Hurlburt Spouses' Club will donate $200 to your unit's holiday party. Keep in mind that cookies should be intact and in a condition that allows us to include them in the goodie bags. We understand that some cookies may meet their demise, but if too many are piled in a container or dropped into a zipper bag, they are likely to be crushed and/or broken. Take care to package them safely and not stack them too high so they will be smashed.

We need your help to make the 2025 Commando Cookie Drive a success for our young dorm residents on Hurlburt Field! Consider contributing home baked (or bakery made) cookies, individually wrapped candy, and candy canes. Donations can be dropped off at the Hurlburt Thrift Shop Saturday 6 December from 10 am until 1 pm or at the Hurlburt Field Chapel Sunday 7 December from 5:30-7:30 pm and Monday 8 December from 7-10 am.

The Hurlburt Thrift Shop is open tomorrow, Saturday, 4 October, from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm. Stop by and pick up your Halloween and fall decor, stock up on household necessities, and find something cozy to wear before the cool weather arrives in our area. Check out the Hurlburt Thrift Shop's social media pages for any sales announcements. You can ask for more information about consigning your own items to earn some extra cash or learn about volunteer opportunities. The thrift shop is located at 120 Simpson Ave, just off Cody Ave past the chapel (driving north from the main gate). Look for our thrift shop flag out front.

Thank you for making our fall kickoff event a success! We ate lots of ice cream, enjoyed a delicious charcuterie board courtesy of our friends at Fisher House, received tons of valuable information from our community partners, and gave away many excellent door prizes. But the best part of the whole night was meeting and chatting with YOU! If you didn't have a chance to join HSC last night, you can join at any time right here on our website. Simply complete the online application (which gives us the information we need to keep you connected), and after you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation message that will link you back to the payment options. If you paid but didn't complete the application form, please be sure to submit it online, or if you completed the application but weren't able to get to the payment link, you will find the payment options on the Join Us page of our website. Our club year runs from June to May. Anyone who has joined since June is paid through 31 May 2025. Help us kick off this year's Book Club by sharing your suggestions for good reads! Whether you love fiction, nonfiction, thrillers, romance, or history, your input matters! Take a few minutes to fill out our Book Idea Form and share the titles you are looking forward to diving into this year. We will compile all the suggestions and have them available to discuss as a group when we meet on October 20th. Whether you are a seasoned HSC Book Club member or brand new to the area, we want to hear from you and definitely want to see you at our first meeting. We'll decide on our first book that night and choose the other genres that are most popular. Don't hold back or wait too long! Your suggestions will help shape our upcoming book club picks! Submit your ideas, mark your calendars, and let’s make this season of reading fun, engaging, and full of great conversations!

No organization is complete without a leader. We have several vacant board positions, but the primary vacancy is the one we need to fill most: the president. Are you the member whom we're waiting to step up and take the lead? Experience isn't necessary. Prior board member experience is desirable, even if it is with a board other than a spouse club. Perhaps you've served on a PTA or in a club while attending school. Prior leadership experience is also a bonus; however, it isn't necessary to have advanced leadership experience. If you have ever organized an event, chaperoned at your child's school, or managed your family's schedule, those are all examples of leadership experience. The most important thing is that you will not be alone. You will have an Executive Board of experienced volunteers, leaders, and advisors at your side, as well as a General Board of volunteers who focus on specific areas of our club.
